About
Welcome to Blue Island Oyster Bar and Seafood, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Lone Tree, Colorado. Located at 10008 Commons St #100, this delightfully crafted seafood haven transports diners to the coastal charm of the East Coast while being embraced by the warm hospitality of the Rocky Mountains. As I stepped into this inviting space, I couldn't help but feel the buzz of excitement in the air—an atmosphere brimming with a blend of comfort and culinary adventure.
The star of the show at Blue Island is undeniably the seafood, with an impressive array of offerings that cater to all palates. Their clam chowder, heralded as the city's best, is an absolute must-try. This heartwarming blend of creamy goodness, sea clam fritters, and smoky applewood bacon is a dish that sings with rich flavors and satisfying textures. It’s the kind of meal that wraps you in a warm embrace, perfect for those chilly Colorado nights.
But the chowder is just the tip of the iceberg. The appetizer menu is a culinary treasure trove waiting to be explored. From togarashi fries served with a zesty hot mustard sauce to warm spinach and crab dip paired with perfectly toasted ciabatta, each dish bursts with creativity and taste. My personal favorite was the grilled Spanish octopus, which arrived beautifully plated with crispy potatoes and a chorizo vinaigrette that perfectly balanced the dish's savory notes. It's a punchy, fresh taste that transports you straight to a seaside eatery.
Happy hour at Blue Island is a celebratory experience, showcasing their fresh and perfectly shucked oysters that come to life with each briny bite. Whether you prefer them raw or prepared, the oysters offer a delightful contrast of flavors—from sweet to savory—that elevate the dining experience. With exquisite drinks like the blood orange margarita, rimmed with smoked sea salt, every pairing harmonizes beautifully with the seafood.
Customer reviews echo the sentiment that Blue Island is not just about food; the service shines just as brightly. Attentive and knowledgeable staff, like the praised waitress Natalie, create an atmosphere of ease and comfort, making each diner feel right at home. Add to that a dessert like the key lime pie—each bite a perfect balance of tart and sweet, resting in a crumbly graham cracker crust—and you have an experience that invites you to linger long after the meal is done.
Blue Island Oyster Bar and Seafood is more than a restaurant; it’s a culinary voyage. It’s where every dish tells a story, and every visit leaves you with a lasting impression. If you haven’t jumped headfirst into this seafood paradise yet, now is the time. Dive into the flavors of Blue Island, and I promise you won’t regret it!
“ The oysters were delicious. We had raw oysters and baked cheese oysters. We also got the trout deviled eggs and oh my goodness they melt in your mouth. I got a blood orange margarita it had smoked sea salt on the glass rim and it was a perfect pairing with the oysters. Not only did we have fun eating the oysters we really enjoyed the taste and atmosphere . Will definitely be going back. It is a little pricy but we'll worth it and they run deals on different oysters. You gotta just dive in head first and eat here you will not regret it. ”
“ Walking into Blue Island Oyster Bar's Lone Tree location feels like discovering a coastal treasure in landlocked Colorado. This seafood gem combines East Coast charm with Rocky Mountain hospitality, creating an experience that's nothing short of exceptional. The happy hour at Blue Island is where this restaurant truly shines. Their appetizer selection transforms the traditional after-work wind-down into a culinary adventure. Fresh, perfectly shucked oysters arrive glistening on ice, each variety offering distinct flavors from briny to sweet. The small plates menu showcases the kitchen's creativity without overwhelming your wallet. Service here elevates the entire experience, with our friendly waitress Natalie deserving special recognition. Her knowledge of the menu is impressive, but it's her genuine warmth and attentiveness that transforms a meal into a memorable evening. Natalie strikes that perfect balance of being present without hovering, anticipating needs while allowing conversations to flow uninterrupted. The key lime pie deserves its own paragraph of praise. This isn't just dessert; it's a masterpiece of balance between tart and sweet with a perfectly textured graham cracker crust. Served at the ideal temperature, it provides that refreshing citrus finish that complements a seafood meal perfectly. Don't overlook the warm beet salad - a dish that could convert even the staunchest beet skeptics. The earthy sweetness of perfectly roasted beets pairs wonderfully with creamy cheese, crunchy nuts, and a dressing that ties everything together. "Divine" is indeed the word that comes to mind. Blue Island Oyster Bar proves that exceptional seafood isn't exclusive to coastal cities. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself to an elevated happy hour, this Lone Tree location delivers consistency, quality, and warmth that keeps locals coming back and visitors planning their return. ”
“ Service was amazing, staff friendly and very helpful! I haven't been here in years and coming back was a treat. I am full and happy the oysters fresh, fish amazing and clam linguini awesome, if I get the clam linguini again I'd only ask them to be lighter on the salt but other than that, they are top tier we will definitely be back soon! ”
“ Very very delicious place! I absolutely love octopus (maybe an asian thing??) and have tried it in many places all over Denver. At Blue Island, the Spanish octopus dish is very close to the Spanish octopus served at Humboldt Kitchen! Both had chorizo and potatoes but seasoned slightly differently. I give the edge to Humboldt though because I personally love how Humboldt serves it - as one giant tentacle and the seasoning had more of a salty and spicy flavor. Blue Island serves the octopus in slices. Still absolutely delicious. Our server was amazing (I didn't catch his name). I also had the simply fish dish with blacked with garlic butter ahi tuna with red pepper chimucherri and potato's salad. It was SO GOOD. I tried some of my husband's fries from his fish and chips and they were PERFECTLY SEASONED and salted!! The breading on the fish was also different but delicious - it had a slight sweet flavor to it. Maybe crystallized sugar on it? It wasn't overpowering at all. Best fish and chips I've had in the Denver metro area. The fried calamari (also stolen from my husband) was also so so delicious!! I also had my first oyster here (yeah yeah Asian girl never tried an oyster!!)! Had it with the bloody Mary shooter and it was delicious!!! Great place to take an oyster virgin I will be returning here!! Great place for seafood for sure! I definitely want to try their calm chowder and more oysters next time! I didn't finish the octopus so I could save room for the ahi tuna. Didn't finish the ahi tuna either and left super full! Update 9/16/24 - Still an excellent place to visit! They offer a Power Lunch! I have since tried their clam chowder and it is excellent! Update 5/28/25 - We still love coming here! Stopped by for Denver Restaurant week and this past week to discover happy hour pricing on Sundays for Sunday Funday!! What a treat! Absolutely love their chowder. Tristan was our latest waiter and he was excellent fun, friendly, and made us feel right at home! ”
“ Best Sunday night Special. Good was amazing, every dish was delicious. Service was excellent, atmosphere is good. ”
“ The oysters were amazing. I’ve been looking for a location that would serve fresh oysters in Colorado. Believe me, I understand we’re not close to large bodies of water. But as a first timer trying them. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked them. It seems like a popular place so the staff are busy but it wasn’t a bad experience. ”
“ We’ve been here a few times and really like the food, especially the oyster specials. The grilled octopus is amazing as are the PEI oysters (Island Pearl, on our most recent visit). The clam chowder is very good and if they claim city’s best as in the City of Lone Tree, then I agree, but there is better chowder to be had elsewhere in Denver. I do love that they have a sturgeon “caviar bump” (10g) for 30, which is good as a bump on its own or added to other things like oysters. It really is like a salty sea butter. The three course lunch special is a good value, especially with the filet mignon and shrimp scampi. On this visit Tristan was our bartender and he was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We will continue to return! ”
“ Andrew S was our waiter today and he was amazing. Knew the menu very well, had recommendations and answered all of our questions about the various oyster varieties. Best dining experience we’ve had in a long time. And come to find out, it’s only his 2nd day on the job. You would have never know. This restaurant clearly trains their team members well. Highly recommend. 10 out of 10 stars!!! ”
